Ferry collision sparks fire in Barcelona

A video of passenger ferry collision at the Port of Barcelona has surfaced which resulted in a fire breaking out. The incident is reported to have occurred 8am this morning (31st Ocotber 2018) and involved a ferry colliding with a loading crane at the South Terminal of the Spanish port.

Following the collision from the ferry, the crane knocked over a number of containers, some of which contained dangerous goods. None of the products represent a high risk at the level of industrial safety the Port Authority stated.


The fire has since been extinguished with no injuries occurring as a result. The ferry, which is 200m in length long was 414 carrying passengers as well as vehicles. A total of 59 of the passengers were to disembark in Barcelona with the remaining bound for Tangier.
