The Port of Rotterdam Authority has signed a sponsorship agreement with EMS Films Holland BV and Veldkijker for the production of the broad nature film and media project De Nieuwe Wildernis 2 - Wild Port of Europe. This is a cinema film with related teaching materials and other media and events about the wealth, resilience and dynamism of nature in the largest and busiest transport and industrial area in Europe; an area that stretches from Moerdijk to Rotterdam, Maasvlakte 2. The Port Authority contributes to the total budget of this project. In addition, it will provide logistical support for the film recordings in the port of Rotterdam. "The Port Authority is developing the port sustainably and by showing our rich flora and fauna, the cinema will confirm this to a wide audience. Known and loved, we show that the port of Rotterdam is a great place to work, to recreate or to live in the neighborhood. This is important. Every year there are 2,000 positions that are to be filled by natural progress alone," says Richard van der Eijk, head of Communications & External Affairs at the Port Authority. "The size of the area is a huge challenge for us, but what we encounter in nature here is so special that we are eager to show this to the general public. We are extremely pleased with the support of the Port Authority for our project", says filmmaker Willem Berents of Veldkijker. The film is scheduled to be launched in the autumn of 2021.
