From 1968 Iceland’s most important import-export operations have been at the Sundahöfn Port facilities. The port handles some 230,000 TEU. Further development of land and lenghtening of already available quays is now taking place. In 2006 the so-called Skarfabakki Quay was officially opened with a total quay length of 450 metres and an operating land area of some 100,000 m2. Land development and construction of quaysides in the area is expected to be completed within the next 5 years. Some 70 cruise ships with approximately 60,000 passengers now enter the Reykjavík Port yearly. We intend to improve further the reception of cruise ships.
